For the high-volume manufacturing of complex sheet metal parts, speed, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness are paramount. Emin Mekatronik specializes in the design and manufacturing of progressive dies, the most advanced tooling solution for this challenge. Our high-performance progressive dies are engineered to produce one or more finished parts with every single stroke of the press, delivering revolutionary efficiency to your production processes.
What is a Progressive Die & How Does It Work?
A progressive die is a complex tooling system where a coil of sheet metal strip is automatically fed through the die. The strip passes through a series of stations, and at each station, a different operation (such as cutting, punching, bending, and forming) is performed simultaneously. The part remains connected to the carrier strip as it “progresses” through the tool, only being separated at the final station as a completed component. This synchronized, multi-stage process allows for the creation of intricate parts at incredible speeds within a single tool.
The Core Advantages of Using Progressive Dies
Integrating a progressive die into your production offers significant, measurable benefits:
- Maximum Production Speed: Achieve outputs of hundreds, or even thousands, of parts per minute, making it the ideal solution for mass production.
- Low Cost-Per-Part: Automation and the consolidation of multiple operations into a single tool dramatically reduce both labor and machine time costs.
- Exceptional Repeatability & Quality: The fixed nature of the die ensures that the first part and the millionth part are dimensionally identical, guaranteeing the highest levels of quality and consistency.
- Minimized Material Scrap: Our engineers meticulously design the strip layout to maximize material utilization from the coil, significantly reducing waste.
Our Engineering-Driven Design & Manufacturing Process
We treat every progressive die as a high-stakes engineering project, ensuring performance and longevity through a rigorous, in-house process.
- Process Design and Verification Our process begins with a thorough analysis of your part tolerances and requirements. We design the most suitable forming process and use advanced analysis programs to digitally verify its feasibility, mitigating risks before the design stage even begins.
- Advanced Die Design with Simulation Our designers have expert-level knowledge of industry-leading CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, and VISI software. We perform detailed static and kinematic analysis on every design to ensure the die’s structural integrity and flawless performance under the immense stresses of high-speed production.
- Precision Manufacturing in Our In-House Molding Room Once approved, the design is brought to life in our fully equipped, in-house molding room. All the machines needed for mold production, from CNC machining centers to Wire EDM, are available within our company, giving us complete control over quality and lead times.
- Assembly, Tryout, and Quality Assurance Our expert toolmakers meticulously assemble each die. We then conduct rigorous tryouts on our own presses to ensure the die produces perfect parts that meet all specifications before it ever leaves our facility.
Application Areas & Industries
Progressive dies are essential for mass production in many of the world’s most demanding industries:
- Automotive: Brackets, terminals, connectors, small chassis and body components.
- Home Appliances: Hinge components, lock mechanisms, internal structural parts.
- Electronics: Connector pins, shielding cans, battery contacts, server chassis parts.
- Construction & Furniture: Metal fasteners, rail system components, and complex furniture mechanisms.
